There are some celebrities who come across in interviews as, well, ding bats. They have loony ideas. Their connection to reality seems tenuous. They figure that if millions of people want to hear what they have to say then they must be possessed of more wisdom and learning than they in fact possess. Its a sad spectacle to watch such people. However, any time I've ever seen Sarah Michelle Gellar interviewed she has always struck me as so normal and sensible. Well, I was just out looking for reviews of Joyce Lee Malcolm's book Guns and Violence: The English Experience and saw a picture of Ms. Gellar on a web page that mention's Malcolm's book. Clicking thru the picture link led to a page from June 1999 with this blurb:

Showing honesty and common sense that is far too rare among NRA's critics in Hollywood, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer of the Warner Brothers Network, refused to blame firearms for the tragedy at Columbine High School in April of this year.
In an interview published in the October 1999 issue of Teen People, Ms. Gellar, whom the magazine described as "the WB's hottest star," admits she "grew up around guns." She also said that she was taught not to touch them as a child. At the same time, she admits that it is impossible to fully comprehend what can lead to this sort of tragedy.
I think Sarah Michelle Gellar is the greatest celebrity ever since she was the first star to send me her autograph almost three years ago.It's sad that her show is coming to a close,however it was a conscientious decision that she made herself and I as a fan respect that.Thank you Sarah for making such a difference in my life and I do wish you the best of everything too.Take care and God bless...P.S.Your shows and adventures will always live on my videos,DVDs and novels!

Really? i am the biggest buffy fan in the world i hope because some people can't handle college or high school, but you know what, she handled that exept the time where she burned down her previous school in california but hey, there's a really good reason to that!!!... anyway, she handled high school and college fairly well... and saves the world from vampires and demons!!! She is a great ro-model for millions... billions of girls. I am a girl and i know that lots of um.. boys has a crush on her... believe me... don't ask why. But i think that BUFFY AND SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR is a ro-model because buffy is a heroine to billions of girls around and sarah michelle gellar proves that even a normal person like her proves that even a normal girl can make their dreams come true. sarah was found by a director when she was 6 years old and all she was doing was eating in a restaurant with her family acting normal. that's also a heroine to me.
hello again. now, i think that buffy and angel has loved each other forever even if they both have girlfriends or boyfriends through out the show. The reasons are:
They both sacrificed themselves to save each other, they have an immortal love, they feel what the other is feeling like when angel felt that buffy died without anybody telling him, when buffy and angel looks at each other they feel like they are the only one around, buffy and angel feels true happiness whenever they "smooch", they both gave up what they always wanted to be just to save each other and comfort each other, no matter if they have boyfriends or girlfriends they both know that they will never feel that much love for each other with anyone else, when they sacrifice the other one they said that it was the hardest thing that they have done in their life even more than dieing, buffy took angel to the prom even though they broke up, everytime they meet they know that it won't be the last.
There was also the time where Angel turned human in "I Will Remember You" but that means not being able to protect buffy from the demons that were after her. So he sacrificed what his greatest wish was to be human so the oracles turned him back to a vampire by restarting the day. When he told buffy that, they saw that they only had about one minute to experience this precious time. angel said that he will be the only one who will remember this so they both got in each others arms and cried all the way until the day restarted again. buffy didn't know except angel so he knows that his reunion will always remain in his memory and in his heart.
What made all those buffy and angel fans cry and cherish the cross-over moments and buffy's season 1-3 is that they feel the love and pain buffy and angel experiences when they think or see each other.The other heart-breaking moments were when Buffy and angel broke up in the sewer but angel knew that the prom was important to buffy because that is one of the times where she feels like a normal person so even though they broke up, buffy came alone in the prom and in the end of the night. angel came and gave buffy one last dance and that was the most romantic part of her life because all she wants is angel and angel only wants buffy and they both know that.And this is what happened in the season 3 finale which was where angel left buffy but not forever.
And so they went to war against the Mayor. They succeeded. The Mayor was blown to bits, and Sunnydale and the rest of the world was safe once again. As Buffy looks around to survey the scene, fear grips her heart, wondering if her Angel made it through the fight. Xander tells her that he did. And then, suddenly, she feels him... Turning around, she sees him, the one true love of her life, her greatest enemy and her greatest love, her destiny, her life... her Angel. Standing from afar, he stares back at her with love, pain and longing etched into his beautiful face. Summoning the last ounce of his courage and strength, he turns and walks away. And Buffy's heart breaks all over again, but she stands her ground, knowing that this is the way Angel wanted it to be. Also knowing that no matter where he goes, what he does... he will always carry a piece of her with him - her heart. They will always be joined together by their love... an immortal love.
See? They do love each other. My greatest wish is to have buffy season 1-7 and angel season 1-5 dvds so i can watch it whenever i feel sad until i die. Believe it or not, i'm only 11 years old and i do understand all of this.Everytime i watch buffy and angel where they have other boyfriends and girlfriends like riley(i hate him. especially where buffy said that she gave him her heart,body, and soul which we know is only for angel), nina(who is a werewolf),spike(a vampire also with a soul in the 6th season i think and after the ending of buffy which was in season 7 finale, he moved in to LA as a ghost in angel season 5),cordelia(their relationship was so unlove like and when she said that she felt his heartbeat, that was only because of the shock gunn i think gave him and thats that!),darla(angel and her had a baby which i think was soooo not good and stupid because i kept thinking when i found that out"what the hell is he doing?cant he remember buffy that time?), and other mini relationships.
i'm only 11 years old and believe it or not, i always cry when i remember them seeing each other,breaking up,dancing, and all the sad and happy times they have. I saw that buffy and dawn moved to rome, willow and kennedy moves to brazil, and Xander moved to africa to find the other slayers in angel in "the girl in question". the times that i see the cross-over moments with them is so sad. when angel heard that buffy was dating "the immortal", he quickly decided to stop them because he thinks that the immortal is bad without buffy knowing it. with all due respect, i think that that was a stupid idea of joss whedon because of all the history with angel, she wouldn't date the immortal and when angel went to rome in the bar, both of them should have felt inside that they were close but joss didn't include that.well, that must have disappointed all of us b/a fans alot. the buffy and angel show will be in our hearts forever even though it ended but we all know that it was special and the best shows ever in the past,present, and future. I also watch "FRIENDS" but that was all comedy and buffy the vampire slayer and angel was drama,horror,comedy,and action which made me say to myself "hey. btvs and angel is better than any show that will be created and period" and i was absolutly right.
What really made me sad and angry was in angel season 1 "Santuary" where they had a fight and buffy punched angel which was not a bad thing because i can't believe that angel kept faith at his side knowing that she tried to kill buffy alot of times. The thing that made me cry and angry because angel hit back which i think shocked the world...no wait the universe. and he told buffy the go home which just was so inappropiate and made me so angry that i screamed at the tv and i got alittle violent with the pillows. i know that that was the only time where they loved each other less but not completly because cm'on, immortal love! angel later apologized in btvs "yoko factor" which made me more relaxed and happy although they didn't kiss at the end which was sad :)! later on after a year or so, buffy broke up with riley which was good news but Xander went to another peoples business and told buffy to go after riley which made me go back to screaming to the tv and alittle violent. the good news was that buffy was too late to save her "love" which made me angry about the "love" part and soooo happy about the too late buffy part.Then later on spike came to the picture and i didn't exactly hate him because he loved buffy without a soul and told buffy that he changed and would stake drusilla which was his sire and love of his life for her but he did things to buffy that made me mad because buffy got upset and happy because angel then became the only love of her life again although he was always in that position :). i was happy when angel came to the season 7 finale to visit buffy and they kissy kissy!!!! he gave her the amulet and they said:
buffy: i'm not really thinking that far ahead. thats kinda the point
angel: I'll go start working on the second front. Make sure I don't have to use it. (walks away)
buffy: calls after him) Angel. (he turns to look at her) I do... sometimes think that far ahead
angel: Sometimes is something. (smiles, walks away)
buffy: Be a long time coming. Years, if ever
angel: (shrugs) I ain't getting any older. (walks away)
that was so sad. in the ending where they destroyed the hellmouth and the gang asks buffy what they are gonna do now, she smiles. i thought that she was thinking "gang, lets go to los angeles and see angel" but as it turns out, all of them go separate ways which was sad because i thought best friends stay till the end? in the ending of angel, we didn't see buffy there and he and his gang with spike fights there last battle against thousands... perhaps millions of demons and we really didn't know what happened to them like did they surive? if they did would angel go after buffy and goes through that "i want to be with you forever" kind of scenario. i hope that in the future, joss whedon will make a buffy and angel epilogue or the one which shows what they do after the ending. but i think that sarah michelle gellar will turn that down because she really got tired with the working so many hours a day but she said that leaving the show was the hardest thing she has done so that will keep me and you guessing huh? if they do it, please make the ending buffy/angel backtogether again and angel with slayer strength and turns to human so they get married, have children, grow old together which will be a perfect ending ever!!!i will cry if that happens because that was the ending of the show: they grow old together and die. but i am happy because they are together till death do us apart right! please make my dream come true man! of course all the character will be played the same like angel is david boreanaz because them playing those characters makes the show better and so i won't get confused and angry as hell ok?sry but i am not threatning you so don't think that i will hunt you down if that doesn't happen!
by the way, i am a huge sarah michelle gellar fan but it is kinda weird seeing her in television play somebody else like in the grudge so i realized that i am mostly a buffy and angel fan but sarah is still my idol. of course, buffy better!with all due respect.
i am kinda disappointed on sarah because right now, she signed up for a role in southland tales as a pornstar and that is so not buffy like. but i respect her and 2006 will be her year! charlotte out!
