Firefly continues to be in fourth place in its time slot for the last few weeks. While the ax is definitely hanging above it the show has not yet been officially cancelled. Sounds like Fox is going to see how well it does in December before deciding on its fate. Here are the last few weeks of ratings:
Friday Nov 1, 2002: 2.8/5 and versus its third place competitor Firefly had less than half the ratings.
Friday, Nov. 8, 2002: 2.9/5.
Friday, Nov. 15, 2002: 2.9/5. John Doe comes after Firefly on Fox and John Doe is now in third place at 4.1/7 for its time slot.
Fox has ordered two more episodes of Firefly to bring the total to 15. So there may be 7 more episodes to come if they all end up getting shown. Joss Whedon is writing and directing some future episodes. Firefly will not air again until December 6, 2002.

Hard for some to grasp, the humor and story behind most episodes made this show a fresh gasp of air in a time where media moguls dominate the airwaves with reality shows and other shallow unintelligent programming.
Firefly was very good and I rate it very highly. Shame on Fox for dunping an great show.
As for Dark Angel, every episode I've seen is as nick discribed Firefly. Perhaps opposite sides of spectrum being expressed here. Maybe I need to watch more Dark Angel to appreciate it.

How the fuck can that fat hag be a co-producer on both Buffy and Angel and be head of programming at Fox(I'm sure her sorry input helped to ruin those shows in the end as well). It's completely unfair that this opee-lookin retard happens to have a good buddy who also happens to just haven been given the job of the goddamn head of the network! Then surprisingly when this nerdy richie cunningham clone comes to her with a show he wants to get on in the same time slot as the show which has been competing with Angel his other show he POOFS gets it like friggin magic! Even though Dark Angel has just as strong as a fan base as Angel possibly stronger and had been alreadly given the green light by the network to continue with a 3rd season! I dont believe in coincidence so as far as I'm concerned we Dark Angel fans were literally robbed of our show, and this dirty little jerks crappy replacment for it gets cancelled anyways after barely finishing 1 season! Something reeks at Fox network and I can put 2 names on it: gail 'fartbag' bergman and jos Douche-boy whedon ! Fuck them both to Hell!!

Get over it, she has. She knows she can show her ass in other venues and you all should go there to get your pathetic perverse fantasies filled. Firefly was one of the best things to ever hit the air. Fox screwed the pooch big time by not advertising it better. Instead they blew up Dark Angel and it still failed. Firefly has such a huge following and it consists of mostly those who found out about after they canceled it. Much like Futurama and The Family Guy, fox cancels it, it finds a fan base on line and then it gets picked up by a smarter network. To bad it's not a cartoon or Firefly would all ready have a home on the Cartoon network. Stupid Fox, get your collective heads out of your asses and wise up.

and Firefly was ground breaking television, simply amazing, Stargate SG-1 has been on the air 10 seasons, that never would have happened on network television. and Firefly got better ratings that SG-1 ever did. A sad victem of the wrong venue and careless handling by a network, fox you should be sued for neglect.
