Birds Of Prey Cancelled; Campaign To Save It Begun

In late November, The WB announced that it had made the decision to cancel 'Birds of Prey' after having aired only seven episodes. Immediately upon hearing the news, irate fans nationwide clamored for a way to let The WB know that they had made a terrible mistake. The 'Keep the Birds Flying' campaign is how we can tell The WB and the production company, Tollin/Robbins, that we want our show back!

It did poorly on Wednesday November 20, 2002 at 3.4/5. The following week was a rerun at 2.7/4.

Angel is supposed to move into Birds of Prey's time slot. I guess that means that Angel will not be cancelled.

Please DON'T cancel 'Birds Of Prey'. It seems as soon as a show develops a following, it is cancelled. Sometimes, your considerations should be to your viewers. I really believe that too much emphasis is given to ratings. There are people out there who really watch and enjoy 'Birds'. I AM ONE OF THEM.

"Birds" is one of the few and I do mean few (1-3) shows that I watch religiously. My other fave new show, Firefly, has also been cancelled. I'm about to give up on television. I'll go back to reading novels and plays for my entertainment, or playing games. The WB is making a serious mistake in cancelling "Birds of Prey". I love this show, and hope that someone involved in the decision making, will hear the public's plea and give B.O.P. the chance that it deserves. This is the 4th show that this network has axed in the past few years, that has been a favorite of mine. As well as many others. Their slogan is "Watch the Frog". Well I would rather stick the frog in a blender and hit dice, than watch the mindless crap that the network has decided to run with. Smallville is the only show that I will watch on the WB from now on. And they will probably cancel that too one day. The WB frog has turned into a poisonous toad.

I would like to see Birds of Prey continue. Even though the comic is better on story lines, I was entertained by this show. Oracle, Black Canary & the cop were written fantastically - loved them. Huntress & Dinah were developing nicely.

Oracle/Batgirl on the show is "perfect" - just don't have her sleeping around - that's not her style, her date was fine - just not in bed. I would have liked to see Dinah grow into the character of the comic (goofy romances & stuff). Black Canary was also perfect & it's great that Dinah was growing into that. Huntress was fine & wonderful in the relationship with the cop (that was great!). The cop was also perfect - neat having his dad be the major villain - just keep the cop on the good side. ^-^

Well, I hope I get to see Birds of Prey continue - it was entertaining. Thanks!

Broadcast TV, how shall I count the ways that I don't watch you? What do I watch on the national airwaves on Sunday? Charmed. On Monday? Zilch. On Tuesday? Buffy and Amy. On Wednesday? Zilch. On Thursday? ER. On Friday and Saturday? Zilch.
You continually put out shows to give me a taste, get me hooked, and then you take them away. To replace them, replace what might be considered drama, I am faced with massive assaults of people who don't even classify as amateurs, who aren't funny, aren't entertaining, and aren't watchable.
I must congratulate you for instead of looking toward fiction to relax, I turn to the educational channels now to relax. But if others like me are not watching you, will it be your education that you need watchers to survive?

I hate even turning on the television anymore because there is never anything enjoyable to watch. When Birds of Prey came out, I and my daughters were hooked! We had a family t.v. night which is something we've never really had. We had something to look forward to in the evening once a week. And now we are back to being in seperate rooms in the evening. My son and younger daughter watch this show with me - it's one of a (very) few shows that are actually interesting in the sea of drivel that is television today. What is it about network executives that compels them to kill of shows with interesting ongoing plotlines and keep trying garbage such as "reality TV"? Another case in point? Firefly.

Enough of this nonsense - bring our show back. We spend more time on the Internet now than watching the fodder you throw at us - don't exacerbate the trend with another cancellation.

I think that every one has said enough about the cancel of Birds Of Prey. I don't know why it was cancelled, but if it has anything to do with popularity, it was cancelled for the wrong reason. Birds Of Prey sure out does alot of other shows that the WB plays. Some of the shows they play are getting a little repeditive, and boaring. Please put something new on "Birds Of Prey!" for instance.

People!!! This show was really BAD. I'm a junkie for stuff like this, but this show made Andromeda look like art! Ask yourself, are you so vehemently opposed to its cancellation simply due to the gender bias of the premise? If so, realize that you liked it for the wrong reasons. Put men in the roles and then ask yourself if it is still so good. I think not. Remember, the WB is a business, not your personal entertainment servant. If nobody is watching the show, they cannot make money, so it gets cancelled (duh!). So it is the viewing public that is to blame, or maybe, God forbid, you can admit it was the SUCKINESS of the show that was to blame for the viewing public turning away and the WB finally SHIT-CANNING this garbage. Birds of Prey was a fantastic show. It was imaginative in the fact that it did not stick strictly to the comic book storyline, and ventured into new terrirtory. The season finale was spectacular! After such an amazing finale, I was shocked to hear about its cancellation, and hope that the WB realizes that if they give the show a chance, it will surely prosper.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy shows generally require at least 1 full season to generate a following. You had a good base of characters, and they were developing nicely. With all the money you've invested in the initial development you think you would want to thake the chance to recoup some of it. At only one season, you can't even sell the rerun rights! Give the girls a chance!

Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said. I'm not sure if these email actually make there way to "The Powers That Be" but if they do I just want to apologize on be half of us true fans that know if you want something from someone to don't send them a offensive email full of hate and anger. Anyways, the show was a great show and it was getting better every episode. Everyone knows that the first season is your introductory season, giving you the info and the low down on all the characters. Just like in the first X-Men and the sequal is where all the action is just like in the second season. So, you see, you'll never know how big it will become if you don't give it a chance.

I loved this show.
It was one of the few genre shows that really felt like it was written and produced by fans.
The writing was tight.
The dialogue was educated.
The look of the show echoed the first Batman movie with a little Dick Tracy thrown in.

Mate, they only just started it over here(crappy tv stations!) in Australia and now i find out its already cancelled! Man thats pretty crap to me. Its such a great show, on par with Smallville i thought. But then again it might as well be cancelled, because over here they are absolutely horrible tv stations. Anyway. They don't care if a few fans are disgruntled it's all about ratings and money, it sucks I know, what a great show to have been cancled it happens to so many of them I guess it's because the true fans are a minority and WB don't care about us, so boycot the station and all WB movies/merchandise etc. maybe the minority can make an impact..

Thank god this show was cancelled. They took one of the best known storylines in comics and twisted it so badly it wasn't even funny. The show could have been far more successful had they just stuck to the continuity of the Batman/DC characters they used. Huntress and Oracle are excellent characters in thier own rights in the comic, and could easily have carried the show as is, without being raped of thier dignity by some idiot writer. Some shows need to smothed in thier sleep, this was one of them.

I would just like to say that I've been a batman fan for about all my life so when the birds of prey came out I was so happy, I liked that you made some stuff about batmans daughter, I just hope that it comes back or its put on DVD.I thought that the show was very popular but I guess it was not. Birds of Prey was a great show. Why? well it's like the Charlie's Angels movie. i dont care about the corny dialogue or the silly story. It was fun, IT WAS ENTERAINING.PERIOD.I don't care if it wasn't the exact SAME DAMN FRICKING storyline as the boring comic books. The cast was great, and the action was kool. Smallville isn't the SAME exact storyline neither and i don't see people complaining about that.
Sadly, as much as i want birds of prey back, i don't think CW is gonna do anything about it at all. They've been ingoring us fans for five whole years, and they can't even bring a damn tiny series to dvd or give us reruns. Heck, i used to love the WB but now it is full of crappy shows. Supernatural and smallville are the only ones that may SOUND interesting, but they are boring as hell. Supernatural is not scary nor ORIGINAL and smallville has 5 minutes of action.
Cw needs BoP but it doesn't realize that. Back then there use to be Buffy the vampire slayer, Angel and so many other distrations that people didnt paid much attention to BoP, today there's nothing. Smallville is the only superhero/action show right now.
Oh and to "Birds of Prey" haters: stop complaning about how the show suxs and blows. It your opnion and it IS NOT A FACT. Therefore, we dont care how much you hate the show, we loved it no matter what. People have different tastes you morons. I dont go around like a idiot saying "SMALLVILLE SUXS SMALLVILE SUXS PLZ CANCEL IT". Just cuz i hate smallville, it doesnt mean that i have to ruin it for the fans of smallville. Geez.
